Until August 29, the Soviet District Court of Novosibirsk arrested Dmitry Kolker, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Head of the Laboratory of Quantum Optical Technologies of the Faculty of Physics of Novosibirsk State University (NSU), on suspicion of treason, RBC Novosibirsk reports.
Kolker is 54 years old, according to art . 275 of the Criminal Code (treason), he faces up to 20 years in prison.
The NSU press service told RBC that they did not know about the circumstances of the scientist’s detention, since he was on sick leave. “According to the personnel department, Dmitry Kolker is on a long sick leave. The University will understand the current situation and act in accordance with the possibilities provided for by the law,— reported there.
The NSU website says that Kolker graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU) with a degree in “physical electronics”. His research interests include nonlinear optics, spectroscopy and laser metrology.
Kolker is also a professor at Novosibirsk State Technical University, where he teaches the design of laser systems and the physics of optical phenomena.
