“I'm not in the government anymore. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and, as far as I know, President Andrzej Duda have accepted my resignation,— he explained.

According to Kaczynski, current Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak will be his successor as Deputy Prime Minister and head of the National Security Committee. “This is a completely natural solution. We are at war, and he is the Minister of Defense, so in the particular situation in which we are, such a combination has very great advantages, — he explained.

When asked when Blaszczak would be appointed, Kaczynski noted that the decision was up to Duda.

Jarosław Kaczynski remains chairman of the conservative Law and Justice Party, a post he has held since 2003.

Kaczyński was born in Warsaw in 1949. He is the brother of Polish President Lech Kaczynski, who died in a plane crash near Smolensk in 2010.

In the 1970s and early 1980s, Kaczynski pursued an academic career, including as a research assistant at the Institute for Political Studies, as well as at the Białystok branch of the University of Warsaw. In the 1980s, during the time of the Polish People's Republic, he was engaged in opposition activities, including participation in the work of trade unions, facilitating the production of underground publications and writing for them.

After the formation of the Republic of Poland in 1989, he was a member of the Polish Sejm of several convocations. In 2005, the Law and Justice party received the best result in the parliamentary elections. Against this background, Yaroslav Kaczynski resigned as prime minister in order not to worsen the chances of his brother, who was running for president. The latter won the election, and Kazimierz Martsinkevich, Kaczynski's fellow party member, became prime minister. After the resignation of Martsinkevich in July 2006, Jaroslaw Kaczynski took over as prime minister in his brother's government.

However, his party lost in the early elections of 2007, Jaroslaw Kaczynski resigned, his place was taken by Donald Dim.

Kaczynski participated in the 2010 presidential election, but did not achieve victory.

Jaroslav Kaczynski returned to the government only in 2020, becoming Deputy Prime Minister in the government of Mateusz Morawiecki. The prime minister explained that Kaczynski's invitation should help strengthen the government.

During the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Kaczynski was critical of Russia and supported Ukraine. After President Vladimir Putin announced the recognition of the DPR and LPR on February 21, he proposed imposing sanctions against Russia, as well as directly against Putin. In addition, he said that if the United States asked permission to deploy its nuclear weapons on Polish territory, Warsawby would consider this issue. “This significantly strengthened the containment of Moscow,” — he explained.

He also proposed to introduce a NATO peacekeeping mission to Ukraine and give the country the status of a candidate member of the EU.
