Irina Gerashchenko: the border guards did not let Petro Poroshenko into Lithuania According to Irina Gerashchenko, Poroshenko was heading to Vilnius, where he was supposed to participate in the spring session of the NATO PA. The border guards at the checkpoint in the Lviv region did not let him in without giving a specific reason, the deputy said
The ex-president of Ukraine, people's deputy Petro Poroshenko, who was going to leave for Vilnius to participate in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, was not allowed to cross the border, said the deputy of the European Solidarity party he leads. Irina Gerashchenko. According to her, the border guards did not explain the reasons.
“Border guards at the Rava-Russkaya crossing point (located in the Lviv region on the border with Poland.— RBC) carried some then nonsense about “a forged or canceled order”, even though all the other deputies <…> let out of the country without any problems,»,— wrote the parliamentarian in the Telegram channel. She attached copies of the list of delegates approved by the Rada to one of the posts, including Poroshenko.
As Gerashchenko noted, Poroshenko was a member of the delegation of the Verkhovna Rada, the corresponding provision was signed by the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk. The leadership of the faction tried to contact the latter “all evening”, but he “did not get in touch.”
The deputy called the incident “a provocation aimed at splitting society, destroying the international image of Ukraine».
Poroshenko posted a photo from Lviv on his Telegram channel. In the post, he did not say why he was in the city.
In 2021, Poroshenko was charged with treason in the case of the supply of coal from the republics of Donbass in 2014-2015, when he was president. He is also suspected of financing terrorism and creating a terrorist organization. The investigation believes that Poroshenko colluded with “members of the leadership of Russia” and the DPR and LPR and organized a scheme for the export of coal from there. The court chose a measure of restraint for the politician in the form of a personal obligation to appear in court or for interrogation on first demand. The ex-president calls his persecution political.
